Samba Print Server for WinXP Clients

Hi All,

Just a quick question.

Have anyone setup a network of WinXP clients printing to a Samba shared printer?
I am having some bad luck setting it up, and it is not the first time.
I always have problems with the drivers and permissions.

The samba server is acting as PDC as well, so all clients authenticate to the server but the printing remains problematic

Any ideas welcome

Are you using CUPS this should sort out the driver problems.

Hi,

Yes I am using CUPS, had to take a driver for a another model. I have the P2014 HP and the driver available was for the HP P2015. But it works fine now.

It was also the method to add the driver to the print server of the WinXP clients. It kept complaining that I do not have the correct drivers installed for the device. But I got that solved later, trying different methods from the samba documents.

It seems to be running now. Until it decides to bomb out again
