Hi Folks

I have a few questions for our KDE expert:

1) Some Linux distros change things that when Konqueror starts up in Web Browsing Mode it loads their home page. Sometimes this is irritating. The question is how do you disable this 'feature', or simply load the URL of your choice. The "Home URL" setting in the "Configure Konqueror" -> "Behavior" section only points to your home dir for file management purposes (default "~"), so thats not it. Any ideas?

2) Some distros like Mandriva set up Konqueror (in File Management Mode) that it previews anything like producing icons from video files and playing audio files (.wav, .ogg, .mp3, etc) as long as the mouse pointer is placed over the file icon. Do you have any idea how these things are achieved?

Cheers

1.
Settings -> Configure View Profiles -> Web Browsing
If you want an empty startup page, uncheck "Save URLs in profile". Save.
If you want a certain page to come up on startup, first go to that page. Then leave "Save URLs in profile" checked and save.
There you go.

2.
Settings -> Configure Konqueror -> Previews & Meta-Data. Activate previews for whatever you fancy. Keep in mind that generating previews takes time. The can be a huge delay in large directories. Also, the previews are caches on harddisk, so they consume harddisk space. I usually switch the whole thing off.
