I am going to post little articles about KDE - mostly about the current version 3.5, occasionally about the upcoming KDE4 which will raise desktop computing to a new level. The first article is about KWorldClock, a very small KDE application that most distributions put under "Toys". From my point of view, this is plain wrong. It is a very useful tool.

A screenshot of it was supposed to show up here. Unfortunately, it seems this CMS software doesn't allow to upload images - at least I can't find an option for it. So we have to make do without.

Assuming you have configured your timezone correctly and your clock is spot on, KWorldClock shows up as a world mapincluding the current daylight zone. You can now hover your mouse pointer over any major city in the world, and it will show you the present local time over there. It takes summer/winter time into account.

Before you phone somebody somewhere in the world, you can first make sure whether it actually makes sense time-wise. A cute little thing that helps at least me a lot.
