PHP vs ASP.Net

recently been ask to do a portal ...easiest way was with asp .. because database is mssql ... to bad am running a centos web server  how easy is it to run asp on unix server ?... or is it beter to just get down with php, not done any asp script before

I have never tried to use MSSQL in php, but it seems to be possible: http://www.php.net/manual/en/book.mssql.php


And if you're building a portal you should consider using a system like Typo3 (http://typo3.org/), Drupal (http://drupal.org/) or eZ (http://ez.no).

at my current work ..... i build few websites using joomla ...
am not sure wich is the best cms system .... i tend to think joomla
typo3 personally i will consider it for a magazine or news portal ...
asp there is dotnukeproject .......

am not sure if there is any training available in windhoek
 for any sql ( mysql or mssql )

does any one know maybe ?
